How to start blogging!

6:41 PM

I have been asked this question quite a few times ever since I opened up my own blog and for the longest time, I wasn't really sure how to answer because it seemed so simple to me. Just make one! Then as years past, I felt like there's a bit more to it than just "make one."

To me, blogging was a way for me to escape reality. I didn't know how else to, I just wanted something to put all my mind and soul into. At first I didn't think much of it. It was fun but time consuming. I would spend hours taking photos and sorting through the ones I like, then having to spend more hours editing, and a couple more writing out the post. It's not as easy and simple as most may think. Maybe to some of you, it probably doesn't even take as long as it takes me. I guess it's because I have a slight ocd with things I put out, if it's not how I want it to look, I will spend hours and hours of my day to make it perfect.

"how do you get started?"

First, find what you want; as in, find out what you want your blog to be. Is it fashion, beauty, or lifestyle; or is it all of it. Do you want to blog about books, or do you want this to be a place for you to explore. Maybe even a journal of some sort. Find out what you want this blog to be.

If you want your blog to consist of photos, I recommend getting a decent camera with a bit of quality, even your phone will work if it's good enough. The reason for this is because (in my opinion) people like eye candy, they like quality. They want to look at things that are nice and pleasing. What you write is important but so are the photos that follows your writing.

Second, find a theme that fits your style and your personality. Personally I think a nice theme is one of the important things when making a blog. Don't be too messy, make it simple for the audience to search for things on your blog. If it gets too complicated, they'll get bored and move on. Have drop down bars for tags, ways people can find categorized posts. You can give your post a bunch of tags but make sure the ones related to each other have one tag that are the same so you can link people.

Also, find your editing style. I've gone through so many of these throughout the years that I've been a blogger/content creator. It's okay to change things up but find one that speaks to you. That represents who you are, kind of like a signature. People will recognize the style and know it's you. We're all in the process of finding out who we are so it's okay to have more than one style or often switch. I've had many but recently I changed to a more dark earthy tone theme and I've never been happier. It takes time to figure this out but surely you'll get it too.

Often times you will find yourself having a hard time finding new ideas to blog about. I get this a lot, even times where I've felt like giving up blogging. It's okay. The best thing to do is to take a break, search for inspiration. Don't feel obligated to blog often, blog when you want to. When I started out, I only blogged about fashion. I was lucky enough to be sponsored by companies that would send me clothes to review. Of course I know not everyone will start out like I did, so the best tip I can give you is to start posting your own stuff. Example, post coordinates of your outfit of the day, link to where you get them. Maybe 5 outfits you'd wear in Autumn, etc. If you want to blog about beauty, then post about your makeup routine, a haul, and etc. Simple stuff like that will get people's interest. At the end of the day, just post whatever you want to post. Don't think too hard about it. It is your blog. You make it however you want to make it.

There isn't much more I can tell you; the last thing I do want to say is, be yourself. Always. Stay true to who you are, be honest with yourself and your audience. I think that is the most important thing to remember when starting a blog or becoming a content creator.

If there is anything more you would like to ask or know, feel free to ask me anything in the comment section!! I really do hope this helps some of you and hopefully you'll start blogging one day! Thank you so much for reading! Have a wonderful day, wherever you are!

(Please note that everything I wrote are my personal experiences and opinions)
